Immensely fond of teaching to impart, expand existing knowledge and to enthuse students. I am professional and honest.
If, a student is learning well, but it is unlikely s/he will pass the exam or exams s/he is aiming for in the given time period of study, I will inform the parent/s. This information is generally appreciated. only once did I get negative feedback in a review for my honesty. I am happy to continue teaching the student, as s/he will generally improve. Later on, s/he may achieve her/his goals, yet if the tuition is solely to pass an entrance exam within a short time-frame, then the limitations of time maybe the brutal factor.
Approximately 35 years' experience in education. I was a principal/coordinator of a small private college, but I found teaching so much more rewarding after my first child.
Education management. Primary, secondary and further education teaching. Head of Deaf Unit. Head of IT. SENCO supply in secondary schools. French and Psychology to A' level. I have worked for the last 10 years mainly in primary. schools or teaching after school.
In my experience private tuition can help students: get into the top set; out of special measures or just catch-up in one subject or several.
My approach to teaching students is to teach them. When, I am engaged for two hours or more, that time is for the student. I arrive on time, and I leave on time. Equally, I encourage students to start on time, be immersed in the lessons and finish exactly on time. In this way, a friendly, respectful, professional exchange is kept to between the student/s, tutor and parent/s. Often, I have other work to go to after the lesson has finished. Ordinarily, the students are grateful to get on with whatever they have to do at the end of the lesson, and parents are happy to wave goodbye to me at the end of a long day for them.
