I am a highly qualified Mathematics teacher with over 35 years of tutoring and teaching experience, holding an enhanced DBS certificate and a PGCE in Mathematics. I specialise in personalised 1-to-1 tuition, both online and in person, helping students build confidence and achieve success in Maths (up to A level, including IB), Physics (up to A level), and Chemistry (up to GCSE). I use Zoom and Microsoft Teams to deliver engaging online lessons and continue to offer home visits for those who prefer face-to-face tuition.

Tutoring Experience

Since 1989, I have provided tuition in Mathematics and the sciences, drawing on my background in telecommunications engineering and my PGCE qualification in Mathematics (2002). Over the years, I have taught students at every stage, from KS2 to KS5, including IB and preparation for 11+, 13+, and 16+ entrance exams for grammar and independent schools. I also tutor Physics up to A level and Chemistry up to GCSE. My experience includes working with students with special educational needs, marking A level Maths scripts for OCR, and teaching at Bushey Academy and Epsom University. I provide tailored worksheets, use a wide range of practical and digital resources, and offer email support between lessons to ensure progress. Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than seeing my students gain confidence and succeed in their studies.

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring approach is always student-centred and tailored to individual needs. Each lesson is carefully planned to build understanding step by step, with practice materials and homework provided to reinforce learning. For online tuition, I use Microsoft Teams and a range of interactive resources to create engaging, effective lessons. For face-to-face sessions, I provide printed materials and structured exercises. After each lesson, I share feedback with parents or carers to ensure they are kept up to date on progress. My goal is to help students grow in confidence, develop problem-solving skills, and achieve strong results.
