I have been a maths tutor for 12 years. Prior to that I was an accountant working in industry for 15 years, managing the company's money across many European countries and using maths on a daily practical basis. I was the tutor to a young actor working on an ITV comedy programme set in Spain (2013 & 2014). I encourage my students to believe in themselves, and get the results their hard work deserves.

Tutoring Experience

I am a tutor working at a girls' secondary school in Hull since February 2014, tutoring maths one to one or one to two/three for years 10 and 11 as required, but have taught students in years 7,8 and 9 as well.
I was the tutor for a young actor working on an ITV comedy set in Spain in 2013 and 2014.
I tutor privately for maths GCSE, and have also worked one to one with learners in Adult education.
12/14 of my students that took their GCSE exams whilst under my tuition at Summer 2025 (the last main sitting) passed their exams - ie grade 4 or higher, and all improved their expected grade.

Tutoring Approach

I teach online (using Zoom) and in-person, using PDF Annotator on a laptop, which makes it easy for the student to work on the different questions. I email everything that has been covered in the lesson on a PDF, which is helpful for future review and revision.
I have a patient approach, and am happy to use different methods where appropriate to help in their understanding of the many different topics required for GCSE.
