I’m a former university lecturer and qualified teacher. I've taught English at universities including Liverpool, Oxford, and University College London. I offer world-class knowledge and personal support to get you the results you need.

Tutoring Experience

I am a qualified secondary school teacher (PGCE English), with 8 years of experience of teaching English literature in higher education.

I taught tutorials at Oxford, while receiving my DPhil, and subsequently taught at the university of Liverpool, Queen Mary, University of London, and University College London. In 2025, I received a PGCE in secondary English, teaching across all ages from KS3 to A-Level.

I have also tutored for 11+ entrance exams and GCSEs.

Tutoring Approach

I strive to give students their own ways in to a subject. I believe the advantage of tutoring is that it is individual--this is a bespoke service. It is also a relationship. I like to think of tutoring as a conversation where I provide the structure in ways that make room for spontaneity.

The best way to get the results you need is to find out where you struggle and how we can build confidence in these specific areas by working together. This isn't just about 'practising skills'; instead, I try to find ways to make what you need to do relatable and interesting.

My experience of teaching and research at the highest levels means that I am able to find examples and resources that can help illuminate any aspect of English. I try to blend rigour and enthusiasm and to create an atmosphere where any question can be asked and answered.
