Hello, my name is Louisa. I am currently studying Biomedical Science at the University of Warwick, where I achieved a First in my first year. I have a strong academic background, including an A* in A-level Biology, and I am passionate about helping others reach their full potential in science.
Alongside my studies, I am an active member of several clubs and societies, which has made me sociable, adaptable, and confident in working with people from a variety of backgrounds. Friends and peers often describe me as approachable, easy-going, and supportive, qualities that I bring into my teaching.
I am patient, organised, and committed to making learning engaging and accessible. Whether it’s breaking down complex topics, building exam confidence, or supporting study skills, I aim to create a positive and encouraging learning environment for every student.
I have several years of experience supporting students in their studies, particularly in the sciences. In secondary school I tutored year 7 Biology, Physics, and Maths, helping pupils gain confidence and achieve strong results in their exams. I have learned how to adapt my teaching style to suit each student’s strengths, whether that means breaking down challenging concepts, reinforcing exam techniques, or building general study skills.
I have successfully tutored younger students at my previous school and feel comfortable teaching primary school children to meet their targets. I plan activities which complement what a child is studying in school as I feel this maximises the benefits of tutoring and allows a student to feel more confident and at ease in the classroom, enabling them to feel empowered and fascinated by the art of learning. I think it's important for my students to feel valued and listened to, so my starting point with new students is to assess a child's strengths and weaknesses in order to tailor a specific lesson plan for that child. I am happy to go the extra mile for my students and I regularly provide feedback to parents about the child's progress. I believe regular communication between parent and tutor enhances the values of tutoring and I am happy to listen to parental requests and to tailor my tutoring accordingly.
