Hello everyone! My name is Nicole, and I am a resident NHS doctor, originally from Cyprus but trained in London. I graduated from Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2022. Additionally, I have obtained a MSc by Barts and the London in Critical Care with Distinction. I have a special interest in anaesthetics, and I am currently undertaking a fellowship in Critical Care.
Over the last 6 years, I have been teaching and tutoring one-to-one, small groups and large audiences, including medical students from different medical schools (including Barts, KCL, UCL and ARU), IGCSE and A-level students from multiple backgrounds. I have also had the pleasure of preparing high school students with their university applications for medicine, and interview preparation, obtaining offers from their first medical school choices.
For the last 3 years, I have been writing multiple choice questions (MCQs)/single best answer (SBA) questions for one of the most popular online revision question banks and I have received very good feedback about the high-quality questions delivered.
I am a passionate tutor dedicated to achieving the highest potential for my students and improve and reflect on my teaching/tutoring practices.
I am devoted to my students, always taking the extra mile for them in order to accomplish their goals and dreams. Over the last 6 years, I have completed more than 600 hours of tutoring experience, both in person and online. I had the pleasure of teaching students from multiple universities both in the UK and Cyprus. I have aided students with their university applications, personal statements and interview practice, obtaining offers in many top UK universities. I have also taught medical students from all academic years, from first to final year, both in the clinical setting and in the non-clinical setting, and I always aim to teach with up-to-date curriculum.
Throughout my university years, I was involved with regular delivered seminars in cardiovascular pathology, endocrinological abnormalities, basic sciences, general medicine and general surgery as a teacher in the Medical Education Support Society (M.E.S.S.) as well as helping students with their OSCE preparation through the Clinical Learning and Associated Skills Society (C.L.A.S.S.). Now, as a resident doctor, I am regularly offering bedside teaching for many different medical students as part of their clinical placements, helping them understand important pathological and clinical concepts to ace their exams.
I have also aided in the development and organisation of a virtual teaching programme for final year medical students to pair them with current junior doctors to help them with their OSCE practice for their final exams. In addition, I participated in the scheme and delivered a combination of online and in-person weekly online teaching sessions by creating my own up to date OSCE scenarios.
My teaching sessions have received very positive feedback. I aspire to continue doing this for the rest of my clinical career, as teaching is my passion and I want students to have the opportunity to learn in a safe, amicable and casual environment, invite them to ask questions, for further clarification and analyse exam-style questions together, increasing their chance of success for their future endeavours.
I am a very approachable, enthusiastic and passionate tutor that engages in creating a welcoming teaching environment where you can develop your knowledge through positive reinforcement. My style of tutoring is interactive and flexible, using evidence-based techniques to enhance your learning including active recall, interleaving and scaffolding, that is eventually tailored to your needs. So far, I have obtained very positive feedback on my teaching style, but I continue to reflect and improve my practices by attending and participating in teaching courses to stay up to date.
Primarily, I offer one-to-one support via online platforms but I am happy to discuss in-person tuition if needed. For the online sessions, I use Microsoft teams, Zoom or Skype, thus, the lesson is very flexible and can happen at any time to suit your needs. I am always available to be reached over the phone/WhatsApp/email between sessions to monitor your progress, answer any questions and discuss further/additional requirements to optimise the lesson and adhere to your needs.
