Maths and Physics Lessons in Bristol

As you’d hope from any science tutor, it goes without saying that I have a deep fascination for science! Many of the books I read and programmes I watch are scientific – in fact, it was my interest in science that got me into one of my other passions, meditation.

In fact, all of my areas of interest are interconnected and fuelled by a deep fascination with the world and how it works. For me, it is truly incredible that each of us is alive, with the consciousness to experience it! Most of us take it all for granted, but every now and then it might hit us with full force... How incredible is our existence and our universe?

Here are some of the many, many questions that amaze and fascinate me:

How does the process of seeing work?
What are emotions and how do they work?
Why is the sky blue?
What is out there in the blackness of space?
Are flies conscious?
Will we ever be able to read people's minds with technology?
What do blind people 'see' when they dream?
How do bats see the world with echolocation?

I get a lot out of my work as a tutor helping students to understand difficult concepts and give them the confidence to believe in their abilities. I also like to hear stories of progress in exams and in class. Most of all, I enjoy getting students to like the the subject again!

Tutoring Approach

I believe in building a strong foundation that supports each student’s individual needs. My goal as a science and maths tutor is to identify and address any learning gaps and remove any barriers that may hinder understanding and knowledge acquisition.

These 'learning barriers', I speak of, could be low confidence, exam technique, study technique, lack of interest or motivation, anxiety and recognised learning difficulties. We all have a collection of learning barriers and my job is to identify my students' and see how we can overcome them together.

Through active engagement, regular communication with parents and teachers (optional), and a focus on developing independent learning skills, I guide students toward achieving their fullest potential.
