My name is Raphaelle, I am 55, I am married and have 2 children.
My Modern Languages journey began all the way back in my school years in the south of France. I remember having an inspirational native English teacher who made every lesson fun and interesting, motivating me to study languages further. Looking back, I realise how important it is to have a teacher whose passion can inspire others. I went on to do my Master’s Degree in English and Italian. I travelled to the UK and studied for the PGCE and QTS which I passed in 1997. Since 2012, I have been Head of Department and have had the privilege of working in several Independent schools. I’m proud of my students’ successes; in 2024 and 2025, my French students achieved 100% grades 9–7 at GCSE level, and at A Level they consistently gain A and A*.
The focus is :
- to support each student with patience and encouragement, helping them build confidence and reach their full potential.
- students' engagement and critical thinking (e.g., Independent Research Project at A level).
- to encourage them to ask questions and to work independently.
- In a classroom environment, I like my pupils to work in pairs or in groups to solve problems and share ideas. I also love using online platforms to enhance learning experiences.
