Sophie

I am a creative professional as well as an experienced tutor, having taught ages 7-18 and adults individually and in a group/workshop setting for 5+ years. I am friendly and passionate about making students feel confident in their abilities and enthusiastic about their subjects. I also have experience working within mental health activism for young people and am keen to make daunting exams of assignments feel more manageable while uplifting my students.

I continue to work professionally as a writer and actor alongside my tutoring.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked with students from year 3 up to GCSE and A Level, and my students have had great results, getting into top schools/universities and succeeding in their exams. I have experience working with students on English, Creative Writing, History, Drama and LAMDA exams/audition preparation, as well as revision/study skills and essay/exam technique. I have experience working with students who are struggling with their mental health and helping them prepare for and feel confident in their work. I also have experience working with students with learning difficulties.

My students have all achieved top grades in their GCSEs and A Levels (90% have achieved between grades 7-9 after working with me) and I have helped students who previously got grades 4-5 to achieve grades 6-9. Many of my students have won highly-coveted places at top schools after 7+, 11+, 13+ and 16+.

Tutoring Approach

My approach is above all, compassionate. I am a rigorous worker and will make sure my students are prepared in every way, but I also want them to be kind to themselves. I create a relaxed, friendly environment and want to make learning fun, so my students become passionate about their subjects as well as confident in their own abilities. I believe that the ability to succeed is within everyone, and I am sensitive to the pressures school can provide- I want my lessons to be a safe space where we can have fun learning.
